Fashion Week Fall 2012
Just got back from New York City I was doing hair for three Designers I did the Nicole Miller with Frank Rizarri and Keven Ryan The hair For Nicole Was Clean center part extra extensions for thickness very Haight-Ashbury 60s and large brim hats on top.... the next show was was with the team of Carlos Cintron and Antonio Corral for the Catherine Malandrino show her inspiration was the 1982 movie Cat People with Natasha Kinski very dark so the hair also had to have the same feel, To achive the look we first styled the hair straight back off the face with a volume mousse for a lot of top volume leaving every thing behind the crown and ears smooth and flat while we then put on a handful of gel on the top and sides (sides very flat to the head and the top pomped and piecey.) to give them a very 80's wet gelled look. and on my last show working with Lead Peter Grey I did hair for Badgley Mischka the hair for that show was inspired by Tim Burton and the movie "METROPOLIS" the entire head was curled with the smallest irons the stylist had varying the size and directions of the curls some small sections were twisted to the head and out o
f the way for randomness ,all the curls were brushed and separated to give the hair a more fuzzy less curly look then hair sprayed and back combed into random shapes, three curls were put in the front with a larger iron and the brushed smooth into waves then blended into the big shape. Three Great shows and a great time. here are some photos. http://www.jeffwacker.com/1/post/2012/02/new-york-fashion-week-fall-2012.html

Remodeled (The new C.W. show)
Up at 6:00a, on the road by 7:00 on set by 8:00. Set, Long Beach Ca. Shoot, Bikini Calender for a new show called Remodeled,.airing on the C.W. in Jan 2012.Modeling industry veteran Paul Fisher is planning to bring together hundreds of small agencies around the world in a new venture called The Network. I arrived on set with my assistant Jessi and Daughter Alexis as 2nd assistant. We get right to work, just light soft messy beach hair, easy enough. One of the shows cameras catching the going on's we knocked out 7 or 8 girls by lunch, hair and pictures, than off to craft service. Nice spread of food C.P.K. and El Torito.
Paul calls to tell me that he's sending me a model that is cute but has way to big of a forehead and that I need to put some bangs on her to cover her "LARGE F****** FOREHEAD". So after lunch cameras rolling and razor in hand I gave Sydney's "not so large" forehead some fringe. Paul arrives with the rest of the camera crew (some on camera on phone "Reality" yelling) another 4-5 hrs of shooting, Dominic Petruzzi (the photographer) gets some face time on camera with Paul as the sun sets a little more fixing hair on set and we wrap.

R Sessions
O.k. I'm heading to New York to work backstage at Fashion Week with quite a few of my favorite stylists. Two in particular are Kevin Ryan and Frank Rizzeri friends and co-owners of R Session Tools when going on set it imperative to have the right tools 1/4, 1/2, 1 inch, 2 inch irons, crimpers, micro crimpers, blow dryers ect. There's no end to of these tools and there makers but there is two tools that R Session make that I love to have in my tool bag. The Nalu Waver (Nalu Hawaiian word for wave) a double iron that gives you many curl options soft beachy waves, 20s waves, sexy waves etc. and the Root Control (a small hot iron sandwiched between two combs so you can comb right on the scalp to smooth frizz and kink without burning the scalp. I find that I use these two tool at almost every show I do. Check them out at rsessiontools.com

My Fan Out Shears
Over 25 years cutting hair and owning at least that many shears I found Fan Out Shears. Now with approximately 7 Fan Outs in my collection "Someone stop me" it is almost complete.
I have my Dry Cut Shear (FMGT) my favorite shear for my wet cuts (FGT675) don't forget texture and blending, for that i have my (FSS302) 30 teeth (FSS160) 16 teeth and my (FSS110) 10 teeth... more teeth = more smooth, most of the time... except in the case of the (FSS300) it has 30 teeth but removes about 50% of the hair it comes in contact with.
Why are they the best? Is it the fact that 15 out of the 20 steps to make these shears are done by hand or is it the fact that they combine over 75 years past experience with the newest technologies or the fact that each shear is personally handled by their Samurai Sword Specialist all the way thru sharpening and final inspection. "I Don't Know" They just feel and work better than "ANY" Shears I have ever owned.
Thank you Tak Ishida for making a great tool. .....Wacker
P.S. Oh yeah one more shear the (TRS620) made from Damascus Steel with alternating layers of nickel and cobalt steel (strength and flexibility) it gives the shear an almost wood grain look, Its like art that cuts really good hair

Fall Styling On the Men's Runway:
From what I saw backstage a lot of the cuts were shorter sides and Med. to Long tops ........ but as far as Styling It was Designers choice Perry Ellis was worn hard part with a slight Pomp in front (Classic) While Richard Chai had his men looking A little more Vampire Diaries/True Blood after just taking off your motorcycle helmet.(Gel'ed and smashed) In other shows Calvin Klein Had smilier cuts but styled Square like a [BOX] While Dior left it loose and natural but off the face. So it seemed it was "ALL" about the styling. Cant wait to get back stage and see whats next...Wacker
